When last did you apply the (five? ten? thirty??) -second rule, and what had you dropped?

10mins ago with cough drop and wondered about the rule, does the rhino-virus from my 2 year olds sneeze that entered my eye last night have thirty secs to infect me? thinks not-rule is bogus!

i never heard of that rule before moving to canadia. but srsly... if something falls on the floor, it either comes into contact with something dirty/foul or not. it doesn't matter how long it lies there.

@ariane 'the floor' is all relative to where you're standing

it's not a rule it's a lie and just a way to rationalize to yourself that what you're eating on the floor isn't broken and used

Yah.. what's funny is how with university students here it's more like the 30-minute rule

one of my old roomates had no floor rule, she would eat anything off the floor. and considering the state of the floor most of the time, she must have an amazing immune system (perhaps because of all the floor eating?)
